The short answer: Baggy jeans should fit snug at the waist, with intentional room through the hip and thigh, and a clean column of fabric down the leg. The volume is built into the cut — you do not size up to get it. At FITJEANS, our Baggy is high waisted, stretchy and made to hug your waist with no waist gap, then relax through the leg. Petite, Regular and Tall lengths are available on selected colours so the hem lands where you want it.
Baggy jeans had a reputation problem for years. Too many people bought a bigger size in a regular cut, watched the waistband slide, and decided baggy was not for them. That is sizing, not the silhouette. A true baggy fit keeps a defined waist and adds volume on purpose.
What does a good baggy jeans fit look like?
Use this head-to-toe check in the mirror:
- Waistband: snug enough to stay up without a belt. You should not be able to pull a whole hand into the back.
- Seat and thighs: visible room, but the fabric still follows your shape. Flat, collapsed pockets usually mean the cut (or size) is wrong.
- Rise: our standard Baggy is high waisted, so it sits at your natural waist — the easiest place to keep baggy looking polished.
- Leg: a relaxed column from hip to hem, not skin-tight and not a parachute.
- Hem: one soft break over the shoe, or a light stack if you like that look. A hem that pools into a muddy pile usually means the length is too long for your shoes.
If the jeans only look "baggy" because the waist is too big, you sized up. Go back to your true waist size in a cut that is actually drafted baggy.
How do I size baggy jeans online?
At FITJEANS, size standard Baggy by your waist, the same way you would our Flared styles — but check the Baggy chart, because the letter sizes sit one step up from Flared and Skinny.
| Size | Waist | Petite inseam | Regular inseam | Tall inseam |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 60–65 cm / 23.5–25.5" | 73 cm / 28.7" | 78 cm / 30.7" | 88 cm / 34.6" |
| XS | 65–70 cm / 25.5–27.5" | 74 cm / 29.1" | 79 cm / 31.1" | 89 cm / 35" |
| S | 70–75 cm / 27.5–29.5" | 75 cm / 29.5" | 80 cm / 31.5" | 90 cm / 35.4" |
| M | 75–80 cm / 29.5–31.5" | 76 cm / 29.9" | 81 cm / 31.9" | 91 cm / 35.8" |
| L | 80–85 cm / 31.5–33.5" | 77 cm / 30.3" | 82 cm / 32.3" | 92 cm / 36.2" |

Measure crotch to heel for length. Petite, Regular and Tall are available on selected Baggy colours (for example Vintage, Grey, Heavy Washed Black and Stonewashed Blue). Other Baggy styles are one length — always check the product page.
Between sizes? Size up in black (stiffer fabric) and size down in the lightest washes. Pastel Baggy is different — use that style's size guide or email help@fitjeans.com.
For Baggy Low Waisted, ignore the waist table above. Those are sized by your hip measurement on a separate chart.
Baggy vs oversized: what is the difference?
| True baggy cut | Oversized (sized-up regular jean) | |
|---|---|---|
| Waist | Designed to fit your waist | Often too big, slides and gaps |
| Volume | Patterned into hip and leg | Extra fabric everywhere, including rise |
| Seat | Filled, with room | Sagging, droopy crotch |
| Look | Relaxed on purpose | Looks like the wrong size |
If you want more volume than our Baggy gives, change silhouette (for example Flared Low or a wider shoe), do not keep climbing sizes.
Do baggy jeans gap at the waist?
They should not. Gap usually means the waistband is too big, or the jeans were cut for a straighter waist-to-hip ratio than yours. FITJEANS Baggy is built for the opposite: a snug high waist and super-stretch denim through the hips, bum and thighs. Our community of 450,000+ includes a lot of curvy and gym-girl bodies who want that balance. Standard Baggy also has real front pockets (and back pockets).
How long should baggy jeans be?
Length makes or breaks baggy jeans more than skinny ones. Extra fabric on a wide leg becomes a pile instead of a soft fold.
- Petite: keeps the hem from drowning shorter legs. Pair with trainers or boots that have a bit of visual weight.
- Regular: aim for one soft break over your everyday shoe.
- Tall: gives longer legs the full column without cropping mid-shin.
If you are between lengths, think about the shoes you wear most. Chunky trainers and boots eat a little hem; ballet flats leave more fabric on the floor.
Which FITJEANS baggy styles can I choose?

FAQ
Should baggy jeans be tight at the waist?
Yes — snug, not painful. The waistband should hold without a belt. Room belongs in the leg, not in the waist.
Should I size up for baggy jeans?
No. Buy your true waist size in a baggy cut. Size up only when you are between sizes in a black wash (stiffer fabric), or when a specific chart tells you to.
Do FITJEANS baggy jeans have front pockets?
Yes. Standard Baggy and Pastel Baggy have real front scoop pockets, plus back pockets.
Are baggy jeans good for curvy or gym-girl bodies?
They can be, when the waist fits. Stretch denim sized by the waist is usually kinder to muscular thighs and a smaller waist than rigid oversized jeans.
What shoes work with baggy jeans?
Chunky trainers, skate-style shoes and boots with a real sole. Delicate flats can disappear under the hem. Full outfit ideas are in our baggy styling guide.
Do you have petite or tall baggy jeans?
Yes, on selected colours. Shop Petite and Tall options in the Petite & Tall collection, and always match your inseam to the Baggy size guide.
